In a highly dangerous development, Israeli strikes shifted focus to central Beirut early Sunday morning. A guided missile strike hit a room at the Ramada Hotel in the upscale Raouche district without prior evacuation warnings. According to an initial report from the Ministry of Public Health, four people were killed and at least ten others wounded. Rescue teams are working to recover those trapped under the rubble.
Security forces have cordoned off the area, while images circulating on social media show extensive damage to the targeted apartment. The Israeli army claimed responsibility, stating the airstrike targeted “central commanders in the Lebanon Corps of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.”
Simultaneously, Israeli airstrikes resumed on Beirut’s southern suburbs, targeting the vicinity of Haret Hreik – the Roueiss area – amidst heavy enemy aircraft activity over the capital.
The aggression extended across southern Lebanon:
· An airstrike on a house in Qana killed four civilians
· Five people were killed in Tuffahta in the Sidon district
· Three were martyred in an attack on a café in Jabal al-Batoum in the Tyre district
· Two civilians martyred in a drone strike on Kfar Rumman in Nabatieh
· Six were martyred and five wounded in an airstrike on Khirbet Selm in Bint Jbeil
The Ministry of Health reports that by Saturday afternoon, the overall death toll had reached 294 martyrs and 1,023 wounded. Following the latest wave of attacks, at least 24 additional deaths and dozens more injuries have been recorded.
The humanitarian crisis continues to worsen dramatically. The Disaster Risk Management Unit at the Prime Minister’s Office reports that shelters have increased to 514, housing more than 112,525 displaced persons from 26,163 families. Relief efforts are ongoing, with hundreds of thousands of food rations, tens of thousands of water containers, and hygiene kits being distributed.
The past 24 hours alone witnessed 873 acts of aggression, resulting in 45 deaths and 117 injuries, according to official reports.
