Iran Detains 500 Suspected Spies for Enemies Amid Wartime: Police Chief

Iran’s police forces have arrested 500 individuals on charges of sharing information with enemies during the ongoing US-Israel war against the Islamic Republic, the country’s police chief announced Sunday.

Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Radan stated in a televised interview that 250 of those detained have been identified as “important cases” who provided intelligence to the adversary and cooperated with groups by “taking footage of strike locations and sending it to them.”

The police chief did not specify when and where the arrests took place.

Radan further revealed that the detainees included “20 very important cases” who were members of a spy ring operating across three Iranian provinces, adding that the network was successfully dismantled.

He also announced that the main perpetrators of a sabotage operation had been apprehended, explaining that they transmitted information about a private company that was subsequently targeted by the enemy.

According to Iranian media, dozens were arrested in several regions on Sunday alone.

Tasnim news agency reported that twenty people were detained in northwestern Iran on charges of providing location details of Iran’s military and security assets to ‘Israel’.

The agency also stated that ten individuals were arrested in northeastern Iran—a region that has remained relatively untouched by airstrikes—with some accused of collecting intelligence on sensitive locations and economic infrastructure.
