Iran’s FM Araghchi: Recent War Demonstrates Iran’s Resilience, Diplomacy Key to Economic Growth

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the recent war represents a pivotal chapter in the history of the Islamic Republic, proving that the Iranian people remain committed to resistance, dignity, and national pride. He noted that the Israeli adversaries were forced to retreat after a 12-day period of determined resistance.

Speaking to economic stakeholders in Isfahan Province, Araghchi recalled that the enemy had expected Iran to surrender within days but was compelled to withdraw after 12 days of steadfast resistance, ultimately requesting immediate ceasefire negotiations.

He criticized the exaggerated claims surrounding the so-called “trigger mechanism,” asserting that the narratives promoted were far worse than reality. According to Araghchi, these accounts aimed to paralyze the economy psychologically by instilling fear, while the supposed tools of disruption lacked any practical effectiveness.

Iran’s FM Araghchi emphasized that the primary mission of Iran’s foreign ministry is to work toward lifting sanctions while safeguarding national principles, dignity, and interests. He highlighted the nuclear deal experience and subsequent negotiations as valuable lessons, noting that each bears its unique context and challenges.

The minister stressed the importance of fully leveraging internal, regional, and international diplomatic capacities before blaming sanctions. He outlined the ministry’s economic diplomacy as a hands-on effort to identify and remove trade obstacles and open new markets for Iranian businesses.

Araghchi pointed to a recent achievement in which a domestic company won a $600 million regional contract, surpassing Chinese and Turkish competitors.

Concluding his remarks, he said, “We are indebted to our people, not the other way around. Our duty is to serve the nation, and economic diplomacy will be one of the main tools to fulfill this responsibility.”
