Lebanese Army Frustrates Strife Interpretations of Israeli Attack on Metn Apartment, Underlines Restraint and Responsibility

Instead of denouncing the Israeli aggression on an apartment in Ain Saadeh area, Metn, some Lebanese political factions and media outlets got involved in creating and spreading scenarios which claimed that the attack targeted a person who recently hired the apartment.

The Lebanese Army issued a statement affirmed that there no new tenants in the building, underling the importance of restraint and responsibility in this regard.

What follows is the text of the Army statement:

On April 5, 2026, at approximately 9:00 PM, an apartment in the Ain Saadeh area of Metn was targeted by an Israeli attack using two GBU-39 bombs, which are launched from aircraft or warships, as part of the broader aggression against Lebanon. A specialized army unit arrived at the scene and conducted a field survey to gather evidence. The investigation revealed that the two bombs penetrated the roof of the building and then the fourth floor, exploding on the third floor, the intended target. This resulted in the deaths of three residents of that floor and injuries to others. Initial investigations also indicated that there were no new tenants in the building.

While it was observed that a person was seen leaving the building on a motorcycle immediately after the attack, the investigation is ongoing to determine his identity and uncover further details.

The army command urges everyone to refrain from speculation regarding this attack and to exercise restraint and responsibility while awaiting the conclusion of the investigation.
