Hamas Mourns Senior Leaders: Their Blood Will Fuel Our Struggle Against Israeli Enemy

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, mourned a group of senior leaders of its armed wing, the Ezzeddine Al-Qassam Brigades, who were martyred during the Al-Aqsa Flood battle.

The movement identified the fallen leaders as

  • Mohammad Al-Sinwar, Chief of Staff, succeeding the late national figure Mohammad Deif
  • Mohammad Shabana, Commander of the Rafah Brigade
  • Hakam Al-Issa, Head of Weapons and Combat Services
  • Raed Saad, Head of Military Manufacturing
  • Hudayfa Al-Kahlout (Abou Ubaida), former spokesperson and head of military media.

In a statement on Monday, Hamas said the leaders “ascended to the highest ranks after long journeys marked by struggle, strategic planning, and the accumulation of strength in defense of Palestine, its people, its land, and its sacred sites, foremost among them Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.” The statement emphasized that “their blood and sacrifices will be the fuel for our ongoing struggle against the enemy.”

The movement highlighted that these leaders “remained steadfast on a path of challenge, upholding national principles, loyal to the blood of martyrs and the sacrifices of prisoners and the wounded, sincere in their struggle, leading the ranks of resistance, and closely united with their people at the heart of battle. They forged heroic achievements throughout all stages of confrontation with the occupier, most recently in the blessed Al-Aqsa Flood battle, which deepened the occupation’s vulnerability, restored our cause to its rightful course, and established new milestones for our people on the path to liberation and return.”

Hamas also recalled the leaders’ decades-long jihadist careers, “leaving a mark since the movement’s inception over thirty years ago in Gaza, each in their field and pivotal role: astute military leadership, wise administration, precise planning, and rigorous preparation that produced strategic results in the history of Palestinian resistance.”

The statement added that “each of these heroic leaders was a model of integrated military leadership, a symbol of unyielding will and legendary resilience. Together, they embodied a unified body, spirit, intellect, and vision, all dedicated to Palestine, steadfastly focused on liberating its land, Jerusalem, and Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

Hamas warned that “the occupation’s crimes—targeting our leaders and symbols and the oppressed Palestinian people—will not break our resolve or weaken our strength and courage. We remain committed to the path of resistance.” The movement reaffirmed its pledge to “uphold its principles, defend its rights, and honor the blood and sacrifices of our righteous martyrs, until all our national rights are fully realized, foremost among them the liberation of the land and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.”

Abu Obeida: Our People Will Not Abandon Their Weapons, and the Ummah Must Confront Its Primary Enemy

Abu Obeida, the newly appointed military spokesperson for the Ezzeddine Al-Qassam Brigades, said the ceasefire that has been in place for more than two months “is the result of the steadfastness of our people and the resilience of the resistance.”

In a televised statement on Monday, he said the resistance “has fulfilled all its obligations despite continued enemy violations to protect the interests of our people and deny the occupation any pretext to resume bloodshed.”

He stressed that “the right to respond to the occupation’s crimes is inherent and guaranteed,” calling on all concerned parties to restrain Israel, halt its aggression, and compel it to adhere fully to the agreements reached.

Abu Obeida urged international actors to focus on “disarming the occupation’s lethal arsenal, which has been used to annihilate our people and attack countries across the region,” instead of targeting “the light weapons of Palestinians, which the enemy falsely presents as a justification to undermine the ceasefire.”

Reflecting on October 7, 2023, he described it as “a resounding eruption against injustice, oppression, siege, and ongoing aggression against our people and Al-Aqsa Mosque,” adding that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation “corrected the course, returned the Palestinian cause to the forefront after years of marginalization, and awakened the conscience of free people across the region and the world.”

He said Palestinian steadfastness “thwarted all enemy plans, from forced displacement and death traps to renewed settlement expansion, and brought down all declared war objectives.”

Abu Obeida affirmed that “our people are defending themselves and will not relinquish their weapons as long as the occupation persists,” warning that Israeli aggression against Al-Aqsa Mosque, the West Bank, and Palestinian prisoners continues to escalate, requiring sustained popular resistance.

He called for continued mobilization across the region to ensure “that criminals do not escape accountability,” urging the Arab and Islamic world to intensify efforts to relieve Gaza and stand united “against their primary enemy, which is now adding Arab capitals to its target list.”

Addressing the people of Gaza, he pledged that the resistance “will remain loyal to your sacrifices, rebuild what the occupation has destroyed, heal the wounds, and ensure that your suffering is not in vain.”

He concluded by saluting “all those who stood with the Palestinian people,” including supporters in Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and other countries.
