Israeli Occupation to Suspend Dozens of Aid Group from Operating in Gaza

Israeli occupation has warned it will suspend dozens of humanitarian organizations, including some of the best-known, from operating in the Gaza Strip in 2026.

Well-known international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) such as Doctors Without Borders (MSF), ActionAid, the International Rescue Committee and the Norwegian Refugee Council are among those that will have their licenses suspended on 1 January, with their operations to end within 60 days.

Occupation authorities in the Zionist entity said the groups, among other things, had failed to hand over “complete” personal details of their staff.

The move was heavily criticized by foreign ministers from 10 countries, who said the new rules were “restrictive” and “unacceptable”.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the UK, France, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland said the forced closure of INGO operations would “have a severe impact on access to essential services including healthcare”.

They added that the humanitarian situation in Gaza remained “catastrophic” and called on Israel’s government to ensure INGOs were able to operate “in a sustained and predictable way”.

Call to Reconsider Ban

For its part, a consortium of international and local NGOs has called on Israel to reconsider its suspension of the 37 organizations.

The Humanitarian Country Team, which coordinates decisions across UN agencies and NGOs working in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, said it was “urging the Israeli authorities to reconsider” the move.

International NGOs, the group said, “are an essential part of the life-saving humanitarian operation” in the occupied Palestinian territory.

UNRWA: ‘Israel’ Denying Aid Access

Meanwhile, UN agency for Palestinian refugees said on Tuesday its supplies were ready to enter Gaza amid heavy rain and strong winds that have battered the Palestinian enclave, but that Israeli authorities were not allowing it access.

In its latest operational update, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said food parcels enough for 1.1 million people had been stored at the border, in addition to flour for 2.1 million individuals and shelter supplies for hundreds of thousands.

The Israeli occupation authorities have not granted the agency’s international staff visas or permits to enter the occupied Palestinian territory, including Gaza, since the end of January. They also continue to block UNRWA from bringing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
