US President Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire with Iran until talks between the two sides are “concluded” despite previously saying he wouldn’t extend the deadline.
Trump said he is granting the ceasefire extension at Pakistan’s request, and blamed Iran’s delay of response to the deal proposal. However, the Iranian officials have affirmed that Tehran may never accept talks under threats.
“I have therefore directed our Military to continue the Blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will therefore extend the Ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
According to the information obtained by Tasnim news agency, the Iranian negotiating team has informed the American side through a Pakistani mediator that it will not be in Islamabad, Pakistan on Wednesday, for various reasons and there is currently no prospect for participating in the negotiations.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, who has served as the country’s top negotiator with the United States, says the US is trying to prolong the war with Iran to serve objectives other than “making America great again” (MAGA).
In a post on his X account on Tuesday, Qalibaf said that US warmongering tactics, led by President Donald Trump, offer nothing of value to Trump’s MAGA support base.
