Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed his sorrow over the martyrdom of journalist Amal Khalil, who was martyred in an Israeli bombing that targeted the town of Al-Tiri, which also injured journalist Zeinab Faraj.
In remarks cited by National News Agency on Thursday, President Aoun stated that the deliberate targeting of journalists aims to obscure the truth about the attacks “perpetrated against Lebanon.”
He pointed out that these acts constitute crimes against humanity that necessitate accountability under international laws and conventions, and require international action to stop them.

The Lebanese president extended his condolences to Khalil’s family, the staff of Al-Akhbar newspaper, and the Lebanese and Arab media community, praying for mercy upon her soul and patience for her loved ones. He also wished Faraj a swift recovery from injuries sustained in the same attack.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Israeli enemy targeted journalist Khalil, Al-Akhbar newspaper correspondent in south Lebanon, along with other journalist Zeina Faraj. The two journalists were covering the move by the Lebanese Army to establish a checkpoint in the southern Lebanese village of Al-Tiri.
