Hezbollah Lawmaker: 3-Week Extension of Ceasefire is Meaningless as Long as ‘Israel’ Insists on Hostile Actions

Hezbollah MP Ali Fayyad during a memorial service in Nabatieh, south Lebanon (December 28, 2025).

Commenting on the announcement of a three-week extension of the ceasefire between Lebanon and the Israeli enemy, member of the Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, MP Ali Fayyad, maintained that it is crucial to emphasize that the ceasefire is meaningless as long as ‘Israel’ persists in its hostile actions, including assassinations, shelling, and gunfire, and continues its destructive campaign against Lebanese border villages and towns.

Furthermore, the enemy insists on its right to freedom of movement, under the pretext of potential dangers, as not contradicting the declared ceasefire, MP Fayyad added.

“This clearly signifies an Israeli-American determination to revive the pre-March 2nd status quo. In an even worse form, presenting it merely as a cover to justify and accelerate direct negotiations between the Israeli enemy and the Lebanese authorities.”

“In practice, this pushes the Lebanese side towards adhering to the ceasefire, while imposing no obligations, not even minimal ones, on the Israeli side. This is something the resistance cannot accept. On the contrary, it affirms its rejection of it and its determination to confront it,” Hezbollah lawmaker affirmed.

“Any Israeli aggression against any Lebanese target, regardless of its nature, gives the resistance the right to respond proportionately according to the field situation. Furthermore, any ceasefire that does not constitute a prelude to an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory affirms the Lebanese people’s unwavering and final right to resist the occupation and expel it from our land in order to restore full Lebanese sovereignty.”

“While the resistance is fulfilling its duty and role in this regard, the Lebanese authorities must abandon their policy of passive ambiguity and their empty, meaningless, and untrustworthy pronouncements which reveal a blatant contradiction between what these authorities declare and the actual realities on the ground.”
