Iran’s foreign minister has told his Swiss counterpart that the United States and the Israeli regime must be held accountable for violating international law and the UN Charter, warning that ongoing insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of military aggression against Tehran.
In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis discussed bilateral relations and regional developments. Araqchi briefed Cassis on the situation following 40 days of US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and what he described as repeated ceasefire violations by the aggressors since April 8.
Referring to the security and economic consequences of the imposed war by the United States and the Zionist regime on the region and the world, Araqchi stated that insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz stems directly from the military aggression against Iran. He stressed that the international community must take this reality into account and hold the aggressors accountable for their blatant violation of the principles of the UN Charter and international law.
For his part, Cassis reaffirmed Switzerland’s principled position in support of diplomacy aimed at ending the war and establishing peace. The two ministers also discussed bilateral issues and emphasized the continuation of consultations in areas of mutual interest.
