Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, briefed resident ambassadors in Tehran on Saturday on the Islamic Republic’s latest proposal to end what it described as the war and aggression launched by the United States and “Israel” against Iran.
Gharibabadi stressed during the meeting that Iran maintains full and decisive readiness to deter any attack on its territory and people, reiterating that Tehran believes in diplomacy grounded in mutual interests as a means of resolving disputes and has already fulfilled its role in that regard.
He said Iran had presented its plan to Pakistan in its capacity as mediator, with the aim of bringing a permanent end to what it described as an imposed war, adding that “the ball is now in the United States’ court” to choose between diplomacy and continued confrontation.
Gharibabadi added that Iran, in pursuit of its national interests and security, remains prepared for both paths, while maintaining what he described as deep skepticism and mistrust toward the United States and its commitment to diplomacy.
He further noted that the meeting followed a trilateral session involving the ambassadors of China and Russia with the Iranian deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs.
In a separate development, Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Hamid Reza Haji Babaei said Iran is “the region’s greatest power,” arguing that it is Iran—not the United States—that is capable of ensuring regional security.
Speaking at a gathering in Zanjan Province, northwestern Iran, Haji Babaei urged regional states to avoid reliance on external actors and instead turn toward the Islamic world, calling for a shift in strategic orientation.
He also said the war “has not stopped” but continues through what he described as economic, political, and sanctions-based measures in both physical and digital spaces. He added that negotiations do not imply concessions, but rather “imposing demands on adversaries.”
Fully Prepared for Any Hostile Action
Separately, Major General Mohammad Jafar Asadi, deputy for inspection affairs at the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said Iran remains fully prepared to respond to any hostile move.
He emphasized that previously divided political factions have now united around the necessity of national cohesion, which he referred to as “the winning weapon.”
Major Asadi argued that renewed confrontation with the United States remains possible, accusing Washington of failing to uphold agreements and describing its statements as largely media-driven and aimed at managing oil markets and domestic strategic pressure.
He further claimed that the United States is “trapped” in its current geopolitical position, adding that recent regional developments have altered global perceptions of American power.
Reaffirming Iran’s military readiness, he said: “We are fully prepared to confront any hostile action,” crediting national unity and public support as key pillars of Iran’s defensive strength.
He also pointed to what he described as unprecedented coordination between the armed forces and society, alongside increasing political alignment across factions that were previously divided.
Major Asadi ended by mentioning recent changes in the region, saying that internal disagreements have greatly reduced while security agencies keep an eye on and deal with any ongoing threats using intelligence and law enforcement methods.
