Hezbollah’s drones continue to dominate Israeli military concerns, particularly after what Israeli sources describe as the failure of deployed countermeasures to contain them.
Israeli media reports on Tuesday highlighted a growing operational impact of drones on the battlefield in southern Lebanon, where they said the drones have contributed to significant Israeli losses.
In this context, Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israeli Ministry of Defense has issued an urgent call for proposals from defense companies to develop solutions against Hezbollah’s drone capabilities. The newspaper said around 70 submissions have been received and are now under evaluation.
Normally, the process of submitting proposals takes months from receiving the tender request to selecting the company, the Israeli paper reported, noting that the process has been significantly accelerated due to what it described as an “urgent operational race with Hezbollah.”
Separately, Israeli Army Radio reported that approximately 70 explosive-laden drones have been launched toward Israeli forces since the ceasefire took effect in Lebanon on April 17, adding that 11 of them resulted in casualties among soldiers. It also stated that two drones managed to cross into the occupied territories and injure troops there.

The same source further said Hezbollah has launched dozens of rockets at Israeli military positions in southern Lebanon during the ceasefire period, with some projectiles also reportedly crossing into occupied territories.
Hezbollah released a video on Tuesday showing an FPV drone operation launched from southern Lebanon, targeting an Israeli Merkava tank in the border town of Al-Qantara.
The one-minute clip, dated April 28, depicts a drone being deployed from a southern position, followed by aerial footage of Israeli military vehicles, including Merkava tanks, in the targeted area. The video then shows one of the tanks being struck.
