Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday issued a sharp condemnation of the United Arab Emirates, accusing Abu Dhabi’s rulers of destructive actions and outright complicity with hostile powers by continuing to host US military bases and equipment on their soil.
In a strongly worded statement, the ministry warned that such collusion carries serious repercussions for regional security and stability. It noted that the past two days have seen an escalation in “illegal and provocative actions” by American forces in the region, accompanied by naval maneuvers presented under a misleading humanitarian guise.
“Abu Dhabi officials have adopted a behavior that contradicts the very principle of good neighborliness and violates the foundations of the UN Charter,” the ministry said, pointing to the UAE’s open cooperation with what Tehran calls “the aggressor,” the United States. Such actions, it added, directly threaten Iranian national security and interests.
Despite the mounting pressure, Tehran emphasized that it has exercised the utmost restraint, citing its responsible approach and respect for the collective interests of the region and the wider Islamic nation.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry also rejected as completely false what it called Abu Dhabi’s baseless claims that missiles and drones were launched from Iran toward the UAE. Instead, Iranian officials insisted that all defensive measures taken by the country’s armed forces were strictly limited to countering American threats.
Reaffirming its commitment to the UN Charter, international law, and good neighborly relations, Tehran demanded that Abu Dhabi immediately cease its “collusion with hostile parties in practices that violate international law.” Iran reiterated that it will not hesitate to take whatever measures it deems necessary to defend its interests and national security.
The Iranian rebuke follows recent statements by the UAE Ministry of Defense, which claimed on Wednesday and in previous days that the country’s air defenses had been engaged in countering incoming missiles and drones from Iran. The Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters Iran’s central command for air defense has dismissed those reports as “entirely baseless,” arguing that any such attack would have been announced firmly and transparently if it had actually occurred.
Tensions have spiked since the United States launched what Iran describes as an aggression beginning on February 28, carried out through US bases in regional countries particularly the UAE in coordination with ‘Israel’.
