Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent on Saturday a letter to Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem reaffirming Tehran’s continued support for resistance movements and stressing that a ceasefire in Lebanon remains a fundamental condition in any regional agreement.
According to the letter, FM Araghchi affirmed that “Iran will not abandon, until the very last moment, its support for movements seeking justice and freedom, foremost among them the victorious resistance of Hezbollah,” describing this position as a longstanding commitment linked to Martyred Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

FM Araghchi recalled that since the earliest stages of regional mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Iran and the United States, Tehran has consistently insisted that any agreement must include a ceasefire in Lebanon. He said this principle remains unchanged and is considered a legitimate demand of the Iranian government and people.
He concluded that in Iran’s most recent proposal, submitted via the Pakistani mediator to achieve a lasting and stable end to hostilities, the inclusion of Lebanon under a ceasefire framework was explicitly reaffirmed as a core requirement.
