Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri issued on Friday a statement to comment on the so-called “ceasefire agreement”, concluded in Washington after the direct negotiations between the representatives of the Lebanese Authority and the Israeli enemy, describing it as “hybrid”.

Speaker Berri stressed that the text could have been interpreted positively had it stipulated an unconditioned ceasefire by land, sea and air, away from the demolition operations carried out by the enemy.

The Lebanese House Speaker added that “Washington Agreement” mentioned exclusively Hezbollah commitment to the ceasefire and the evacuation of its fighters from Southern Litani River area.

Speaker Berri also noted that “Washington Agreement” could have been interpreted positively if it had stipulated the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces, away from the “pilot zones”.

Finally, Speaker Berri affirmed that he would accept a ceasefire agreement that includes the following:

1- A complete and comprehensive ceasefire without any conditions, by land, sea, and air, away from the demolition operations carried out by the enemy.

2- Hezbollah’s withdrawal from south of the Litani River in parallel with the Israeli withdrawal from the areas it occupied.

The rest of the text of “Washington Agreement” is unjust and not worth mentioning, Speaker Berri’s statement concluded.
