The Israeli aggression on Lebanon has now struck the Lebanese Army itself amid the ongoing attacks across the country, mainly in the south.

Al-Manar correspondent reported on Saturday that a Lebanese Army brigadier general and accompanying soldier were martyred in initial toll of an Israeli strike on their vehicle on Khardali road.

The Lebanese Army reacted instantly, issuing a statement with clear and forceful wording describing the Israeli strike.

In a statement on its X account, the Lebanese national military institution said: “A number of soldiers, including an officer, were martyred in a barbaric and aggressive Israeli airstrike on a military vehicle on the Khardali – Nabatieh road.”

The Lebanese Army then said in another post: “On June 6, 2026, an Israeli airstrike targeted a military vehicle on the Kfar Tebnit–Khardali road (Nabatieh), resulting in the martyrdom of two officers—a brigadier general and a captain—as well as a soldier.”

It added that the “continued, deliberate, and repeated Israeli aggression against Lebanon, its people, and its army only strengthens our resolve, faith, and determination to confront these attacks, which aim to obstruct all efforts to reach a solution that would restore stability, establish a comprehensive ceasefire, and lead to an Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory.”
