Nabatieh Municipality issued on Saturday a statement that responds and condemns Al-Hadath News Channel’s poisonous and false report about the existence of tunnels in the city.
The statement categorically denied Al-Hadath News Channel’s allegations, stressing that the fabricated report paves the way for an Israeli aggression on Nabatieh.
“It is not strange for these channels to act as a mouthpiece for the Zionists and to pave the way for aggression against our proud, steadfast, and resilient city that has withstood attacks. This channel has consistently broadcast fabricated poison to create a hostile climate against Nabatieh,” the statement added.
What this channel has done is a media attack to cover up military aggression, and to serve its tyrannical and invading masters, the statement affirmed.
“We, at Nabatieh Municipality, affirm that what the channel mentioned about the existence of tunnels in the city is evidence of media bankruptcy aimed at destroying the city and providing a pretext for aggression.”
“We condemn this statement and affirm that dozens of Arab and foreign correspondents enter the city of Nabatieh every day. These allegations serve only to spread poison and grant media legitimacy to aggression.”
“The question here is: Where did ‘Al-Hadath News Channel’ get its information from? And on what basis? What expertise does the channel have to know that there are tunnels? And if its information comes from Israeli sources—which is its habit—then we hold it responsible. Nabatieh has been and still is a city of human civilization, and a symbol of a city that brought together all educational, social, and economic spectrums.”
“We condemn this slander against our city, and we demand that the Ministry of Information, the state, and the Lebanese authorities take responsibility regarding this falsified and planted report. We also demand that the authorities act quickly, summon the channel’s administration, and hold it accountable for the report. We consider ‘Al-Hadath News Channel’ a partner in any aggression that befalls the city.”
