Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri welcomed on Monday the announced Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States, highlighting in particular its regional scope and its inclusion of Lebanon.

“The memorandum lays the foundations for security and stability in the region, including Lebanon,” Speaker Berri said in a statement, underscoring that Lebanon was explicitly encompassed within its provisions.

He praised the efforts of Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt in facilitating the MOU, saying their mediation helped secure a framework aimed at broader regional stability.

The Lebanese speaker also expressed gratitude to Tehran and Washington, noting a key provision in the agreement related to Lebanon.

“We appreciate the commitment to include a fundamental and binding clause that addresses Lebanon and seeks to halt Israeli aggression against all of its territory,” he said.

Speaker Berri added that such provisions are essential to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independent national decision-making, warning against efforts to derail the agreement’s implications for Lebanon.
