Ongoing Israeli Attacks Render Ceasefire Meaningless, Right to Resist Non-Negotiable: Hezbollah MP

Lebanese MP Ali Fayyad, Member of Hezbollah's Loyalty to Resistance bloc, in a memorial service in Beirut (June 19, 2026).

Member of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad said ongoing Israeli attacks and the continued occupation of Israeli forces on Lebanese territory render any ceasefire meaningless, stressing that the Lebanese people’s right to resist remains “legitimate and non-negotiable” until full withdrawal is achieved.

Speaking at a memorial service in Beirut’s Jnah, MP Fayyad asserted that “the occupation of any Israeli soldier on Lebanese soil” constitutes clear justification for continued resistance, emphasizing that resistance will persist until the liberation of all occupied land.

He noted that recent developments—including the US-Iran understanding, Tehran’s sustained support for Lebanon, and the operational effectiveness of resistance forces—have helped establish a “dynamic balance” with the Israeli enemy, paving the way for a withdrawal from Lebanese occupied territories.

The Hezbollah lawmaker sharply criticized the Lebanese government, accusing it of placing itself “outside the equation of power” in confronting ‘Israel’ and protecting the country. He argued that the government has prioritized monopolizing arms rather than focusing on ending occupation.

He called on authorities to seize the current political moment by prioritizing a ceasefire, halting Israeli aggression, and enforcing a clear and unconditional timetable for Israeli withdrawal.

MP Fayyad concluded by underscoring the resilience of the resistance, saying it has maintained initiative despite mounting pressures, and “continues to rely on the sacrifices of fighters and the steadfastness on the ground to counter Israeli aggression.”
