Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping and maritime traffic, affirming that the United States has failed to uphold its commitments under the first provision of the memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war and citing Israel’s continued attacks on southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the command said Washington had “explicitly violated its obligations” by failing to implement the agreement’s initial clause, while Israeli occupation forces had continued to breach the ceasefire in southern Lebanon.
The statement said the decision was also driven by the ongoing Israeli attacks that have resulted in the martyrdom of civilians and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people in Lebanon, as well as the Israeli enemy’s continued military presence in parts of southern Lebanon despite commitments to withdraw.

“As a result of the United States’ failure to honor its commitments and in response to the ongoing ceasefire violations by the Zionist entity in southern Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz will be closed to shipping and maritime navigation,” the statement said.
Iranian officials described the move as the first stage of their response to what they called violations of the agreement.
They warned that additional measures could follow if attacks continue, saying further steps would be planned and implemented to compel the parties concerned to fulfill and adhere to their commitments under the agreement.
