Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the Islamabad memorandum of understanding (MoU) demonstrated the failure of US pressure policies, stressing that Iran has proven the era of imposing will on independent nations is over.
Addressing the 20th Conference of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC) in Baku on Wednesday, Ghalibaf said recent regional developments, including a 40-day US-Israeli imposed war against Iran, showed that external military presence in West Asia has failed to bring stability and instead has become a source of insecurity.

He said Iran’s resistance during the conflict inflicted significant costs on the aggressors and ultimately frustrated their strategic objectives, noting that attempts to pressure Iran militarily, psychologically, and economically had failed to achieve desired outcomes.
Meanwhile, he affirmed the stance regarding ending the war in Lebanon.
“For us, a ceasefire in Lebanon has been as important as a ceasefire in Iran, and likewise, ending the war in Lebanon has been as important as ending the war in Iran.”

Ghalibaf stressed further that the war was not only a military confrontation but also an effort to alter regional power balances and force political submission on Iran, adding that the outcome proved such calculations incorrect and demonstrated the strength of national resistance and unity.
He said the experience confirmed that lasting peace is not achieved through coercion or humiliation but through dignity, power, and mutual respect.
Referring to diplomatic developments, the Iranian speaker stated that the Islamabad MoU was the result of Iran’s resilience rather than pressure, and said it effectively marked a setback for US attempts to impose its will.
Before departing to Baku, the Iranian speaker said the Ramadan war proved that extra-regional forces cannot provide security but instead fuel insecurity, referring to US-Israeli war launched on Iran between February 28 and April 8.
“In the past, there was a perception that forces and countries arriving from thousands of kilometers away could secure the region,” Ghalibaf said.
“After the Ramadan war, it has become clear that not only are they unable to establish security, they themselves have become a factor of insecurity. We must seize this new perspective.”
