Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has warned the United States against contradictory statements and interpretations regarding the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that ended the recent imposed war, saying such remarks only reinforce longstanding Iranian distrust toward Washington.

In a post on X on Wednesday night, Baqaei said the US leadership has never demonstrated sincerity in its dealings with the Iranian people. He noted that despite having valid reasons for skepticism, Iran entered the diplomatic process in good faith and signed the memorandum aimed at ending the conflict.

Baqaei stressed that Iranians understand hostility toward their country does not disappear with the signing of a single agreement and that Tehran will approach future steps with vigilance, drawing on the experiences of the past five decades, particularly developments over the last 18 months.

The spokesperson added that conflicting statements by US officials regarding the content of the MoU do not help reduce the deep-rooted mistrust of the Iranian public and instead serve as a reminder of previous instances of non-compliance.

He emphasized that the principle of commitment for commitment requires both parties to fulfill their obligations and avoid interpretations that are inconsistent with the explicit text of the agreement.
