Loyalty to Resistance Bloc Calls for Leveraging Iranian Support, Reaffirms Rejection of Direct Negotiations with “Israel”

MPs of Hezbollah's Loyalty to Resistane parliamentary bloc during a meeting in Beirut's Dahiyeh in late 2025.

Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc on Thursday called on the Lebanese authorities to seize what it described as a historic opportunity created by Iran’s support for Lebanon, while reiterating its opposition to direct negotiations with the Israeli enemy and urging the government to reject any concessions that could compromise national sovereignty.

In a statement issued following its regular meeting attended by all members, the parliamentary bloc said that Ashura remains a symbol of the triumph of truth over falsehood, justice over oppression, and steadfast resistance in the face of tyranny. It described the occasion as an enduring source of inspiration for the oppressed and freedom-seekers across generations, embodying the values of sacrifice, perseverance, and commitment to righteous causes.

The bloc said this year’s Ashura comes as Lebanon and Palestine continue to suffer under what it called a brutal and criminal Zionist occupation responsible for genocide, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity, targeting both people and infrastructure with the backing of the United States and Western powers, amid what it described as international complicity and Arab inaction.

It contrasted this reality with what it called the determination of a small but resolute front standing against aggression and injustice, drawing strength from the legacy of Imam Hussein and the sacrifices of Karbala.

The statement reserved special praise for Iran, asserting that the Islamic Republic—through its leadership, government, parliament, diplomatic institutions, armed forces, and people—has stood firmly alongside Lebanon and Palestine at a time of widespread international silence. The bloc described Iran’s support as exceptional and unparalleled, portraying it as a continuation of Tehran’s longstanding commitment to defending oppressed peoples.

Addressing recent domestic and regional developments, the bloc recorded the following positions:

Gratitude for Iran’s Support

The bloc said Iran’s “historic and honorable” support for Lebanon and its people deserves appreciation, respect, and recognition from all Lebanese. It argued that few nations have been willing to place their security, prosperity, and strategic interests at risk in support of another people as Iran has done for Lebanon.

Accordingly, the bloc expressed its “highest levels of gratitude, appreciation, and recognition” to the Islamic Republic of Iran, including its leadership, people, government, diplomatic corps, army, and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

It further argued that Iran’s stance helped compel the Israeli occupation and its American ally to accept a ceasefire in Lebanon and contributed to the emergence of a new regional balance of power, one that, according to the bloc, has reinforced Iran’s standing and influence while restoring equilibrium across the region.

Tribute to the Resistance and Its Supporters

The bloc also paid tribute to resistance fighters, their families, and their communities, praising the sacrifices made by those killed, wounded, or missing during the confrontation with the Israeli enemy.

It said the resilience displayed by displaced families, wounded fighters, and the broader resistance environment reflected the values of courage, loyalty, patience, and steadfastness inspired by Karbala. The bloc stressed that these sacrifices obligate continued commitment to defending the freedom, dignity, sovereignty, and rights of the Lebanese people.

Call to the Lebanese Government

The bloc called on the Lebanese authorities to capitalize on what it described as the opportunity created by Iranian support, which it said had imposed a ceasefire on “Israel” and secured a US-backed commitment to an imminent Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

It also renewed its criticism of what it called the government’s misguided approach, arguing that it has produced only unilateral concessions benefiting the enemy while deepening internal divisions among Lebanese citizens.

Rejection of Direct Negotiations with “Israel”

The bloc reiterated its opposition to direct negotiations with the Israeli occupation and warned against any arrangements that could grant the occupying state gains at the expense of Lebanese sovereignty.

It specifically cautioned against proposals such as so-called “experimental zones” north of the Litani River or any attempt to link the Israeli occupation forces’ withdrawal from Lebanese territory to additional conditions.

The bloc insisted that the Lebanese government must maintain its demand for the Israeli enemy’s immediate and complete withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese land, the return of displaced residents, the release of prisoners, and an end to all forms of aggression against Lebanon.

It stressed that all other matters remain strictly internal Lebanese affairs in which the Israeli enemy has neither a role nor a legitimate interest.
