Four Israeli soldiers, including two officers, were injured in a clash with a Hezbollah resistance fighter in southern Lebanon Thursday, occupation military announced on Friday.

In a statement, the Israeli occupation army said a combat officer was moderately hurt in the incident, and another officer and the two soldiers were lightly hurt.

Israeli Army Radio reported: “At approximately 22:00 last night, during an operational maneuver by Brigade 769 in the town of Beit Yahoun, a Hezbollah operative barricaded inside a building hurled a hand grenade at advancing forces.”

A clash ensued at the site, resulting in the Hezbollah fighter’s death, the Israeli Army Radio added.

Al-Manar correspondent in south Lebanon reported an Israeli airstrike on Beit Yahoun. The Israeli occupation military increasingly leans on airpower to neutralize seasoned Hezbollah resistance fighters in southern Lebanon, fueling growing skepticism among analysts over its effectiveness in direct ground engagements.

The attack comes as Israeli military commanders say claims by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz of maintaining “absolute freedom of action” in southern Lebanon sharply contradict the reality on the ground.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Wednesday quoted Israeli commanders as saying that operational constraints and political ambiguity are increasingly shaping Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon.
