No Surrender to ‘Humiliation’: Fadlallah Vows Resistance Will Keep Arms to Liberate Lebanon

MP Hassan Fadlallah, a prominent member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in the Lebanese Parliament, delivered a defiant address on Sunday, declaring that the recently signed trilateral framework involving Lebanese representatives, the United States, and “Israel” is an “instrument of surrender” that will never be implemented as long as the Resistance retains its weapons to defend the nation.

Speaking at a memorial ceremony in Beirut’s Southern Suburb, Fadlallah framed the armed struggle as an existential necessity, deeply rooted in Lebanon’s historical traumas and its ongoing fight for sovereignty and dignity.

“This is our history, filled with sacrifices for the sake of living with dignity, honor, and freedom,” Fadlallah stated, setting a resolute tone for his remarks.

He traced the origins of the Resistance to the institutional failures of the Lebanese state, particularly during the 1982 Israeli invasion. According to the lawmaker, the absence of a capable national army left the population with no choice but to organize defensively. “We were compelled to take up arms to defend our existence and liberate our land because we had no state that assumed its responsibilities or fulfilled its duties,” he argued. “At times, the state even stood alongside the occupation, as in 1982.”

Rejection of Foreign-Brokered Deals

Fadlallah directed sharp criticism at the political framework signed in Washington on Friday, which he denounced as a “humiliation agreement” that fundamentally undermines Lebanese sovereignty and strips the nation of independent decision-making. He contended that such arrangements risk deepening internal political imbalances and effectively abandon southern Lebanon to unchecked external pressures.

Accusing state institutions of bypassing constitutional protocols, Fadlallah claimed that certain factions are enabling policies that “distort facts and weaken national cohesion,” further eroding the state’s credibility in the eyes of its citizens.

The Resistance as a Unifying National Project

Emphatically rejecting attempts to portray the Resistance as a sectarian or factional actor, Fadlallah insisted that its mission is inherently national—dedicated to protecting Lebanon’s land, people, and independence. “Our weapons are what protect us, liberate our land, and defend our existence,” he asserted.

The MP pointed to a growing wave of enthusiasm among younger generations for military training, which he described as a clear indicator of the public’s determination to safeguard their communities against ongoing threats. He dismissed narratives that seek to confine the Resistance to a narrow demographic, highlighting that its sacrifices are borne across diverse communities in southern Lebanon and beyond.

Broader Regional Context and Future Demands

Linking the current political pressures to wider regional alignments, Fadlallah argued that efforts to reshape Lebanon’s internal landscape are inextricably tied to external agendas aimed at weakening the broader Resistance axis. He vowed that such attempts would ultimately fail, asserting that Lebanon remains an integral part of a complex regional equation spanning multiple strategic corridors.

Concluding his address, the MP laid down a clear red line for any prospective political settlement. He reiterated that Lebanon will not accept any agreement unless it includes unequivocal guarantees of a complete Israeli withdrawal from all occupied territories and a definitive end to ongoing cross-border aggression, signaling that the path of armed resistance will persist until those conditions are met.
