Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, on Sunday, announced her resignation from her ministerial post over the government’s performance amid the current critical circumstances.
“I apologize to the Lebanese because we were unable to meet their aspirations. Change remained elusive, and since reality did not match the ambitions, and after the horror of the Beirut disaster, I submit my resignation from the government,” Abdel Samad said in a statement this morning.
Lebanon has been in mourning as Beirut was ravaged by the two massive blasts which rocked its port, killing at least 150 people and injuring more than 5,000 others. Dozens have been also still missing.
