Lebanon registered on Monday 1,888 new coronavirus cases and 51 related deaths, Ministry of Public Health announced.
In its daily report, the ministry said 1,876 new infections were recorded among local residents, while the other 12 cases were imported, raising the total infections nationwide since February to 376,921.
51 new fatalities were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 4,743, the ministry stated.
8,337 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, including 2,511 at Beirut International Airport, according to the report.
2,192 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours, including 898 at the ICU rooms with 276 of them are on ventilators, the report added.
Meanwhile on Monday, the technical scientific committee set up by caretaker Health Minister Hamad Hasan approved the registration of vaccines provided by the private sector.
The committee, consequently, issued an Emergency Use Authorization EUA for the Chinese Coronavirus vaccine SINOPHARM, National News agency reported.
This came during a committee meeting chaired by Minister Hassan at the Ministry of Public Health.
By granting SINOPHARM emergency use authorization, it is now available to be marketed as per applicable conditions.
