Lebanon recorded on Wednesday 1,478 new coronavirus cases and 27 related deaths, Ministry of Public Health announced.

1,470 new infections were recorded among local residents, while the other 8 cases were imported, the ministry said in its daily report, putting the total infections nationwide since February 2020 to 524,241.

27 new fatalities were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 7,224, the ministry stated.

The ministry put the number of active cases at 21,942. It added that 15,122 PCR tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, including 1,609 at Beirut International Airport.

1,343 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours, including 601 at the ICU rooms, 173 of whom are on ventilators, the report added.
