Iran’s President-elect Ebrahim Raisi expressed his future government’s support for the new Judiciary chief who was appointed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday.
In a message for Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, the Iranian president-elect congratulated his successor on appointment to the post of the Judiciary chief of Iran.
Hailing Ejei’s “stellar academic, practical and judicial experiences and his revolutionary morale,” Raisi stressed the need for closer interaction among the three branches of power to achieve the Islamic Republic’s goals, Tasnim news agency reported.
Raisi was the Judiciary chief for more than two years and has been replaced by Mohseni Ejei after winning the June 18 presidential election by a landslide. He will take office in August.
He voiced his administration’s readiness to cooperate with the new Judiciary chief and assist him in carrying out the responsibilities.
In a decree issued on Thursday, Imam Khamenei thanked Raisi “for his valuable services and brilliant record during his tenure as the head of the Judiciary branch of power” and cited Mohseni Ejei’s merits and long-term service in the Judiciary as the basis of his decision.
The Leader also stressed importance of going ahead with “efforts in the Judiciary to promote justice, uphold people’s rights, ensure legal freedoms, oversee the implementation of laws, prevent crimes, and decisively fight corruption.”
Mohseni Ejehi was the deputy of the Judiciary and also served as the Judiciary’s spokesman previously. He had earlier worked as Iran’s prosecutor general.
