Fierce clashes erupted Tuesday between the security forces and a group of terrorists in Wasiya area in Karak province in southern Jordan as media reports indicated that four policemen were killed in fire exchange during raids aimed to arrest wanted people in the area.
On Sunday gunmen killed 10 people, including policemen and a Canadian tourist, and wounded 34 other people, in a shooting spree in Karak, home to one of the region’s biggest Crusader-castle.
Four assailants were killed by the Jordanian security forces.
The ISIL group on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was carried out by four “soldiers of the caliphate”, in revenge for U.S.-led coalition air strikes targeting ‘jihadists’ in Syria and Iraq.
