Lebanese General Security Wednesday said the results of the medical tests confirmed that the DNA of the kidnapped servicemen’s families do not match with those of the found corpses.
DNA tests carried out on four bodies found previously along the Lebanese-Syrian borders proved that the corpses did not belong to Lebanese servicemen kidnapped by ISIL, the General Security said in a statement.
“The samples were compared with the DNA of the missing soldiers’ relatives. The results were not identical.”
30 army soldiers and policemen were kidnapped in 2014 during a deadly attack launched by Nusra Front and ISIL terrorist groups on the northeastern border town of Arsal.
16 servicemen, who had been arrested by Nusra, were liberated in December 2015. However, 9 others are still kidnapped by ISIL.
