The list of US individuals blacklisted by Iran for involvement in the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Suleimani and his companions was updated, with 51 more American officials and commanders being added to the list.
In a statement released on Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the United States, by conducting the “callous terrorist act,” acted in glorification of terrorism and in violation of the fundamental human rights.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran underlines that the heinous terrorist act will not in any manner diminish the resolute determination and resolve of the Islamic Republic of Iran in following the path of the revered General Suleimani in fighting terrorism and terrorist groups, in particular, the US-backed terrorist groups,” the statement read.
Suleimani was martyred along with former deputy commander of Iraq’s Hashd Shaabi anti-terror group Abu Mahdi AL-Muhandis, in a US strike ordered by former president Donald Trump near Baghdad Airport on January 3, 2020.
