Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah delivered a series of crucial and clear messages on Wednesday to both international and local sides.
In 70 minutes, the Lebanese Resistance leader said it all: The war is better if Lebanon was prevented from extracting gas, and that, this time, not only Karish will be within the reach of Hezbollah’s missiles.
The Hezbollah Secretary General’s messages on the war along with the new ‘beyond Karish’ equation were so clear. However, it’s important to understand the background and the prospects of his speech, since it’s related to the energy security of the entire region.
Sayyed Nasrallah set the crucial nature of the current period Lebanon is now getting through by being clear that some want Lebanon to starve, stressing that the Resistance is fully ready to confront this scheme in a way that will turn the region of the Mediterranean upside down.
Some Lebanese commentators called on US and the Zionist entity, along with their regional subordinates, to take Sayyed Nasrallah’s threats seriously.
“Lebanon’s Rights for the Region’s Security”
“When an organization like Hezbollah says it faces a fateful affair, and when this is announced by a figure like Sayyed Nasrallah, that means the issue is related to strategic decisions and that the Resistance has put its forces on alert and that it is in full and technical readiness to engage in an all-out war in a bid to secure Lebanon’s rights,” Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar’s Ibrahim Al-Amin said in an Op-ed on Thursday.
Al-Amin said that any confrontation between Lebanon and the Israeli enemy means that all extraction activities in the Mediterranean region is no more secure noting that the entire region will turn into a venue for this confrontation.
“In other words, the Resistance says that the drones which flew over Karish earlier this month were just a soft message, and that the future battle won’t stop at certain borders, and rather it will go beyond them in a way the enemies can’t imagine.”
“For those who don’t know Hezbollah’s mind and rhetoric: The Resistance has put itself in the confrontation stage that cuts the road on any attempt of maneuver, and under the title of ‘no return’,” the Lebanese journalist stated.
He added, meanwhile, that Sayyed Nasrallah’s message to the local sides was also clear: “The Resistance has decided to get out of sparing time game, and that despite remarks that will be announced by both official and political Lebanese figures, Hezbollah will only respond to that of the enemy.”
The New Equation: ‘Beyond Karish’
For his part, political analyst Hosam Matar said that Hezbollah has set a new equation that will commit to: Gas and oil extraction in Lebanon for all fields in occupied Palestine.
“Hezbollah shifted from ‘Karish-Qana’ equation to ‘Beyond Karish’ equation in an appropriate chance and based on balance of power,” Matar told Al-Mayadeen late Wednesday.
In this context, the Lebanese analyst stressed that Sayyed Nasrallah, through his threats, was not waging a psychological warfare, “but rather announcing a serious decision that Hezbollah is fully ready to go through.”
Meanwhile, Matar noted that Lebanon is going through the most critical stage since the 2006 July war.
“For now, we haven’t reached such a brink of abyss. It’s one of the most dangerous periods of the struggle with the Zionist enemy.”
He noted that the region, nowadays, faces an approach based on ‘Normalization or Starving’ equation.
The US scheme today says that there is a normalization track, all those who walk through will survive sanctions, blockade and destruction; while all those who don’t follow such course will starve, subdue, be blockaded and sanctioned.
Regional War “At Our Doors”
Leading Arab journalist, Abdel Bari Atwan, said Sayyed Nasrallah’s speech was one of his most important speeches, “since it was full of messages and equations.”
He warned that a regional war is “at our doors,” noting that Sayyed Nasrallah’s remarks “confirm a decision has been made that if there is no extraction of the Lebanese gas and oil then the extraction activities will be halted in the entire region.”
“Biden wanted to stress US’ commitment to Israel’s security. In my estimation, some Gulf states’ moves to form an anti-Iran coalition is a strategic fault,” the Palestinian journalist added.
On the other hand, he stressed that Biden’s Middle East tour ‘is a failure since it aims at re-igniting wars in the region and using Arabs as fuel in the coming war.”
