Former US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, David Schenker said on Sunday that Lebanon achieved almost 100 percent of its requests in the maritime border demarcation, adding that the indirect agreement would be signed soon.
I regret that Lebanon will sign this agreement, without there being any change in the Lebanese scene, Schenker said in an interview.
“In the absence of economic reforms, it is unfortunate to see that the class responsible for the collapse of the country will manage this process that can greatly help Lebanon economically.”
Answering a question about whether the United States intends to sanction Lebanon over importing fuel from Iran, Schenker said, “I do not think that the Biden administration will punish Lebanon.”
