House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Thursday met with UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippi Grandi, whereby they discussed the general situation, especially the issue of the displaced Syrians.
Speaker Berri stressed to the UN envoy that “The burdens endured by Lebanon as a result of the displaced Syrians’ crisis have become very huge, and they warn of serious consequences for Lebanon and the refugees.”
For his part, Caretaker PM Najib Mikati hosted Grandi, stressing that the UN organizations must coordinate with the Lebanese authorities resolving the Syrian refugees crisis.
In turn, Grandi said that the United Nations is ready to boost aid to Lebanon, adding that the UN organizations are coordinating with the Syrian authorities the facilitation of the refugees return.
