Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received Thursday Russia’s Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting reviewed bilateral ties and means of cementing Syrian-Russian strategic relations in all areas.
It also tackled the developments on regional and international arena, with President al-Assad asserting that the political and media war is at its most intense and that such battles require more stability and clarity in political positions, referring in this regard to Syria’s position in support of the Russian special military operation in Donbas.
Lavrentiev, for his part, hailed Syria’s constructive stances from the very outset of the military operation in Ukraine, pointing out that various countries around the world nowadays believe in Russia’s victory.
“Despite pressure to alienate Syria and Russia by the US and its allies but it doomed to failure,” he added.
Moreover, Lavrentiev attached great importance to making a better use of the rapid developments throughout the world, indicating that Russia hails the joint tripartite talks among Ministers of Defence of Syria Russia and Turkey.
President Al-Assad considered such meetings should be previously coordinated between Syria and Russia in order to be fruitful producing tangible results sought by Syrians, based on the national principles to end occupation and cease supporting terrorism.
