Hezbollah issued on Thursday a statement which indicated that the forty-one years spent by the freedom fighter Georges Abdallah in French prisons constituted a damning indictment of the state of law, justice, freedoms, and the protection of human rights, and demonstrated the falsity of integrity and impartiality.
The grave injustice suffered by the honorable resistance fighter Georges Abdallah and his continued detention despite the expiry of his legal sentence, will remain a stain on the record of the French judicial and political system, according to the statement which added that this humanitarian and legal injustice reveals that the standards of democracy and the preservation of freedoms in France are based on certain request, which moved it from the logic of justice and political correctness to blindly adhering to the whims and desires dictated by the interests of Washington and Tel Aviv.
“While Hezbollah congratulates this resistance hero on this prestigious medal, which he received for his steadfastness, fortitude, and adherence to his principles of defending justice and supporting the oppressed, which he never abandoned throughout his captivity, we see him today as a symbol of every prisoner, fighter, resistance fighter, and honorable person who raised the banner of pride and dignity in the face of tyrants and in defense of man as well as his rights, land, and principles.”
“Today, as the French judiciary has recognized the right to the release of this great Arab and international resistance fighter, we hope that this decision will take its natural path toward immediate implementation, away from being aborted by narrow French political calculations or by a renewed submission to Zionist and American pressures that previously prevented his release over slander against him, and in a stance of injustice and hatred towards every resistance fighter and activist in the world represented by Georges Abdallah.”
The French Ministry of Justice announced on Thursday the release of Lebanese activist Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, after 41 years of detention in French prisons.
Abdallah, a prominent figure in leftist resistance and a fervent advocate for the Palestinian cause, has faced numerous delays in his legal proceedings, largely attributed to political interference, particularly from the United States, according to his lawyer. “The United States exerted pressure to obstruct the legal process leading to his release,” he stated, emphasizing that the case has been more political than judicial.
