The Israeli occupation authorities have been eyeing Bab al-Rahma, they hope to turn the gate into a prayer area for zionist fanatics, which has been met with resistance from Muslim officials. The gate is currently closed and no worship occurs in the area, but the occupation forces action has added fuel to the fire.
