“Loyalty to Resistance” bloc voiced commitment to an electoral law based on full proportionality along with single or expanded electorates, calling for taking into account in any poll law the stipulations of the constitution and national accord, notably equity, coexistence and proper representation.
“Such a formula by at large comes in harmony and in line with the standards which would secure the most proper and effective electoral representation and constitutes a quantum leap in adopting the path of building a strong and resilient state, in addition to renewing the country’s political life,” the bloc said in a statement on Thursday in the wake of its periodic meeting, presided over by bloc head MP Mohammad Raad.
The bloc took up extensively the current electoral law proposals currently under serious discussion by the various parties and political forces in Lebanon, in order to reach a balanced consensus over a final version of the long-awaited law.
The bloc also urged deputies to speed up the discussion of the salary and rank scale, to be endorsed by the parliamentary joint committees’ session upcoming Monday, March 6, in preparation to be passed by the Parliament’s General Body.
Hezbollah bloc also hailed the conference which was held in Iran in support of the Palestinian cause, denouncing the attempts carried out by some Arab countries to openly normalize their ties with the Zionist entity.
