The assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, on Wednesday, has drawn wide condemnations across the region.
Following the assassination, which took place in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Palestinian factions and resistance movements have expressed their deepest condolences and vowed to continue the fight against the Zionist occupation.
The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine mourned the loss of the national leader and emphasized that the assassination will not deter them from resisting the Zionist enemy. The movement offered its support to Hamas and reaffirmed its commitment to fighting injustice.
Similarly, the Resistance Committees in Palestine conveyed their condolences to the Palestinian people and stressed that the assassination of a great resistance leader like Haniyeh will only strengthen their resolve to expel the Israeli enemy from their land. They warned that the Zionist enemy will face repercussions for their actions.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also mourned Haniyeh, hailing him as a martyr who fought bravely for Palestinian existence in the face of Israeli oppression. The PFLP called on the international community to rise up against the crimes committed by the Zionist entity.
Hamas pronounced martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh and blamed a “treacherous Zionist airstrike” for his death. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that they are investigating the incident and will release more information in due course.
Lebanon and Yemen
Craetaker Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the assassination, voicing concern over the expansion of the danger in the region.
“We strongly condemn the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas. We see this act as a serious threat that could expand the scope of global concern and danger in the region,” Mikati said at the beginning of an emergency Cabinet session.
On the other hand, the President of the Supreme Political Council in Yemen, Mahdi al-Mashat, announced a three-day mourning period and the lowering of flags in the aftermath of the assassination of Haniyeh.
Imam Khamenei and Iranian Foreign Ministry
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei extended deep condolences over martyrdom of Haniyeh, stressing that it is a duty to avenge his assassination.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has spoken out against the tragic loss of Ismail Haniyeh, the late head of the political bureau of Hamas, following his assassination in Tehran. In a statement, Nasser Kan’ani, the ministry’s spokesperson, expressed condolences to the Palestinian people and all those who supported Haniyeh.
The ministry assured that Haniyeh’s blood and sacrifices will not go in vain, as investigations into the targeted killing are ongoing. Kan’ani emphasized Haniyeh’s lifetime dedication to the fight against the Israeli occupation, stating that his martyrdom will only strengthen the bond between Iran and Palestine.

Russia, Turkey, China
Russia, meanwhile, condemned the assassination of Haniyeh, with Deputy FM Mikhail Bogdanov saying: “This is an absolutely unacceptable political murder, and it will lead to further escalation of tensions.”
For its part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip erdogan said that assassination of Haniyeh “aims to break Palestinians people’s will, but Zionist barbarism will not reach its goals.”
Turkish Foreign Minsitry denounced the assassination as “henious,” warning that the region “will face much larger conflicts if the international community does not take action to stop Israel.”
“Türkiye will continue to support the just cause of the Palestinian people,” the Turkish ministry said in a statement.
China also condemned the assassination, voicing concern over regional instability.

“We firmly oppose and condemn any assassination and violent act and we are deeply concerned about the potential increase in regional instability due to this incident,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said.
