Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed the need to support the efforts aimed at reaching a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid said Monday that the two sides reviewed the recent developments in Syria with Bogdanov presenting an evaluation of the last round of Astana talks on Syria as well as what has been discussed during the meetings currently held in Geneva and the Egyptian-Russian relations.
Shoukry stressed his country’s keenness on further enhancing relations with Russia, expressing hope to boost coordination with the Russian side to support efforts to reach peaceful solutions to crises in the Middle East.
For his part, Bogdanov confirmed Russia’s eagerness to develop bilateral relations with Egypt.
Bogdanov also met with the Tunisian Foreign Affairs Minister Khamis Al-Aghinawa in Amman.
