Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will discuss with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem joint steps to reduce the consequences of US aggression on Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
In a press conference in Moscow, Zakharova said that the two ministers will discuss the situation in Syria which is still subjecting to attacks by the international terrorism and to that was added the armed aggression by the United States.
She added that the ministers will also discuss the possible joint steps aimed at reducing the consequences of this flagrant violation of international law in the region and the world.
Zakharova said that Washington’s use of force in Syria is a serious threat both to regional and international security.
“Unfortunately, anti-Russian forces in the West are not stopping in their desire to destroy positive undertakings on the way towards political settlement, which, as you know, were created largely thanks to the efforts by Russia and its partners in the Astana process, and also by UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura and his team in Geneva,” she added.
She described the US claims that Russia might have had knowledge about the alleged chemical attack in Syria’s Khan Shaikhoun as “irresponsible and non-constructive”.
“What comments can be made on this? Such news, such fakes deserve only one type of comment,” she said.
Commenting on the Turkish Health Ministry’s position with regard to the use of chemical agent sarin in Idleb, Zakharova said the case of chemical weapons is within the competence of the relevant international organizations.
“In particular, the issue is within the competence of “not only the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons” but also within the competence “of the relevant division dealing with the investigation of incidents with the use of chemical weapons directly on the territory of Syria,” she said.
