The Yemeni Armed Forces announced on Wednesday that they had shot down a hostile American MQ-9 drone while it was conducting operations in the airspace over Yemen’s Al-Jawf Governorate.
According to a statement from the Yemeni military, their air defenses targeted the drone using a locally manufactured missile. This latest incident marks the third time in just 10 days that Yemeni forces have succeeded in downing a US drone.
“This is the eighteenth drone we have shot down during the Battle of the Promised Victory and the Holy Jihad in support of Gaza,” the statement read. The military said this operation was “in response to the ongoing American aggression against our country and its horrific massacres against our people.”

The statement went on to say that the US had launched a number of recent airstrikes in Yemen, resulting in civilian casualties and property damage. Over the past few hours, the US has launched a number of raids on various areas, resulting in deaths, injuries, and damage to civilian property
The statement clarified that “the Yemeni Armed Forces affirm their continuation of their operations in support of Gaza, and that they are continuing to carry out their defensive missions to confront any aggression against our country, and that they are fully prepared to deal responsibly with any attempt to undermine our country’s sovereignty, security and stability, and that our operations will not stop until the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted.”
Later on, the Yemeni military media published a video that shows the wreckage of the US MQ-9 drone.
