On the thirty-first day of the resumption of the war of extermination and ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation committed new massacres, resulting in the deaths of more than fifteen Palestinians, most of them women and children, who were burned to death as a result of the bombing of tents for displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis. Others were injured with varying degrees of severity.

Six members of one family were also killed in a bombing that targeted a tent sheltering displaced people in the Beit Lahia project in the northern Gaza Strip, while seven others were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a tent for displaced people in Jabalia camp.

Adnan Abu Hasna, spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), warned that the Gaza Strip is on the brink of a full-blown famine, with food supplies running out. He confirmed that the agency’s warehouses are empty, and that the current situation is the worst since the start of the aggression in October 2023.

Abu Hasna explained that thousands of residents are suffering from hunger, and that the prices of the few remaining food supplies are exorbitant and unaffordable for the majority of the population, at a time when the infrastructure has suffered widespread destruction, including water, electricity, and sewage networks. He stressed the need to immediately open the crossings to allow the entry of food and medicine, warning that their continued closure since early March threatens the lives of 2.3 million Palestinians.

In the same context, the United Nations announced that approximately 500,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced in the Gaza Strip since March 18, as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and the absence of any ceasefire.

A report issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) indicated a serious deterioration in the humanitarian situation, with severe shortages of food, water, medicine, and shelter, and alarmingly high rates of malnutrition among children.

The report accused the occupation authorities of obstructing humanitarian relief efforts, noting that they have prevented four out of six relief missions during the recent period and continued to close crossings and prevent the entry of essential supplies, exacerbating the escalating humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called on the international community to urgently intervene to stop the crime of starvation being faced by the residents of the Gaza Strip, holding the occupation authorities fully responsible for the worsening humanitarian disaster.

In a statement issued Thursday, the movement said that the statements of Zionist Defense Minister Yoav Katz, in which he asserted that his fascist government’s prevention of humanitarian aid entering Gaza is a means of pressure, represent “a renewed public admission of committing a war crime,” using starvation as a weapon and depriving innocent civilians of food, medicine, water, and fuel, for the seventh consecutive week.

It added that the statements of terrorist Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in which he called for not allowing “even a single gram” of aid into the Strip, are an extension of a series of statements and positions issued by the “Zionist fascist clique,” which openly defies all international laws and norms and expresses a clear intention to continue its policy of genocide against the Palestinian people.

The movement expressed its regret for the absence of a firm international stance regarding these criminal statements and criticized the silence of the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, and international judicial bodies, stressing that this silence opens the door for the occupation to continue its crimes.

Hamas renewed its call for the international community to take immediate action to halt the starvation and blockade imposed on Gaza, calling on the International Criminal Court to prosecute Zionist terrorists Yoav Katz and Itamar Ben-Gvir, as well as all occupation leaders, and hold them accountable for their brutal crimes against humanity.
