UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres congratulated Syrian President BashaR AL-Assad on Syria’s Independence Day, SANA news agency reported.

“Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received a cable of congratulation from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the occasion of Syria’s Independence Day,” the Syrian official news agency said.

In the letter, Guterres said he was “counting on Syria’s involvement and effective contribution to help build a stronger UN and to enhance joint efforts to ensure peace, development, and human rights for all,” according to SANA.
