Bahraini regime forces raided Diraz on Tuesday, in a deadly crackdown on the house of prominent cleric Ayatollah Issa Al-Qassem and those who are defending him.
Regime forces attacked unarmed protesters, using “Bird shot” weapon (Shawzan) and firing tear gas bombs, killing at least one and injuring dozens others.
Bahraini sources identified the martyr as Mohammad Kazem Zeinddine, noting that at least six of the injured were in critical condition.
Earlier on Tuesday, Bahraini authorities announced they were staging a “security operation” in Diraz.
Bahrain Forum for Human Rights warned that the regime crackdown on Diraz poses serious threat on Ayatollah Qassem, who got a one year suspended prison sentence on Sunday.
For its part, Al-Wefaq opposition group urged the International community to move in a bid to “stop the massacre” in Bahrain. The prominent opposition group, which was earlier suspended by the authorities accused the Bahraini regime of practicing terror and using banned weapons against unarmed people in Bahrain.
