A cholera outbreak raging in war-ravaged Yemen could infect more than 300,000 people by the end of August, up from nearly 193,000 cases today, the UN said Friday.

“Probably at the end of August we will reach 300,000” cases, UN children’s agency spokeswoman Meritxell Relano said in Geneva.

Since the outbreak was declared in April, 1,265 people have died, she said.

Yemen has been since March 2015 under a brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition. Tens of thousands of Yemenis have been injured and martyred in Saudi-led strikes, with the vast majority of them are civilians.

The coalition has been also imposing a blockade on the impoverished country’s ports and airports as a part of his aggression which is aimed at restoring power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi.

However, the revolutionary forces of Ansarullah and the popular committees have been heroically confronting the aggression with all means.
