Passengers were seen badly burned and covered in blood following an explosion at Parsons Green underground station in west London on Friday, with British media says police are treating the incident as a terror attack.
London Ambulance Service said 18 people were taken to hospital, though none were in a serious or life-threatening condition, it added.
The incident is now being treated as terrorism-related, the Metropolitan Police said. Armed police are at the station and surrounding homes are being evacuated.
Prime Minister Theresa May’s office said she would be chairing an emergency cabinet meeting later on Friday.
“Terrorist incident declared at Parsons Green Underground Station,” police said in a statement.
“It is too early to confirm the cause of the fire, which will be subject to the investigation that is now underway by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command,” it said.
