A Russian deputy foreign minister called for “restraint on all sides” on Thursday following Israeli strikes which allegedly targeted Iranian targets in Syria.
Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said Moscow was “concerned” at the escalation.
“We have established contacts with all parties and we call for restraint from all parties,” Bogdanov said at a press conference on the sidelines of the Russia-Islamic World summit.
“The current increased tensions between Israel and Iran with their exchange of rocket fire is dangerous, as it distracts from the fight against Daesh terrorists, hampers the political settlement of the situation in Syria,” Bogdanov added, referring to the Arabic acronym of ISIL Takfiri terrorists.
