“Vengeance Will Come”: Iran’s Parliament Speaker Vows Punishment for Those Behind Supreme Leader’s Assassination

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf declared Monday that those responsible for the assassination of the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, will ultimately face justice, as the nation’s resolve has only been strengthened by the tragedy.

In a forceful message commemorating the massive funeral procession for the revered leader—martyred on February 28 during the opening salvo of what Iran describes as an unprovoked US-Israeli war of aggression—Qalibaf insisted that the Islamic Republic’s system would remain unshaken.

The speaker characterized the outpouring of mourning as “an epic of awareness and resolve,” stating it had “given renewed momentum to the movement toward the definitive victory of Islamic Iran and the Islamic world.”

Addressing the wave of public demonstrations that have swept the nation in recent months, Qalibaf emphasized that Iranians have consistently voiced fierce opposition to Washington and Tel Aviv. “The people, who have served as the driving force and steadfast supporters of their Revolution for the past 47 years, have, over the past four months, chanted ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’ every night,” he stressed, describing the nightly rituals as expressions of “hatred and revulsion toward those who martyred our Leader.”

The parliament speaker vowed that perpetrators behind attacks on Iran—including the martyrdom of the Leader, high-ranking officials, and thousands of innocent civilians—would face retribution, declaring that the “final step of vengeance” would be achieved through the “liberation of Holy al-Quds” from the Zionist regime.

Qalibaf also highlighted the nation’s renewed allegiance to Iran’s new leadership following the funeral, noting that “the awakened nation bid farewell to its Leader and renewed its allegiance to our new Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.”

Praising what he called the public’s unwavering loyalty, Qalibaf stressed that Iranians had “not retreated by even the slightest measure from the luminous path” established by the Revolution’s founder, Imam Khomeini, the late Leader, and the nation’s martyrs.

“Today, the world has understood that the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to exist and are everlasting,” Qalibaf declared, asserting that with the people’s support, “there is neither deadlock nor defeat.”

In his concluding remarks, the speaker called on officials to maintain national defense through military preparedness while also engaging in diplomacy and negotiations, alongside improving economic conditions for the populace.

“No efforts should be spared in safeguarding their rights,” he said, “whether at missile launchers in defense of the country, or through diplomacy and negotiations, or by serving the people to improve their economic and living conditions.”
